So I have my PS5 in a motion picture editing office to watch scenes against what we're working on. I have successfully gotten streaming services to playback in true 5.1 which is great. I have my sound set to dolby audio. (I tried them all and dolby audio seemed fitting)
Then I pop in a 4k bluray UHD that has 5.1. The back of these disks says DTS HD format. I do indeed get surround... but strangely I only get sound effecets and music and all the production audio/dialogue is muted haha. WHYYY. I tried changing to DTS and it says "unsupported", but then I still hear audio. Go back to the disk player and same result. Surround but not hearing any dialogue. Just sound effects and music, but in surround.
Switch back to apple / MAX / Prime / Netflix and I'm indeed getting 5.1 properly with dialogue/music/fx all on.
My setup is abnormal because I am plugging into my 5.1 editing system, so there's no soundbar. I had to go the route of HDMI optial audio extractor. I put that between the PS5 and the TV. Optical audio goes to another device of mine, an optical audio breakout box (gives me discrete RCA plugs for each channel) that plugs into my SPL 5.1 controller. (an expensive volume knob that connects to my suround sound mixing speakers)
Anyawy yeah its working perfectly.... UNTIL i put in a 4k bluray and its a bummer. Any ideas?
