sound issue on headset

hi there,my 3rd party wired headset just yesterday possibly kicked the bucket,i will explain what its doing.
on ea fc25 i cant hear the commentary ,on fortnite i cant hear my friends chat. i get a funny sound in background,almost like water bubbling quietly. i can hear other sounds in both games.
if i only put the 3.5m jack into controller partially i can hear all ok.
its as if i dont have stereo sound anymore perhaps.
the headset was working fine until yesterday,just strange that this has happened suddenly.
anyone any clues?

Have you tested the headset using other devices? I'd give that a go to see if it's the jack. It could be a bit of dust or something in the port on your controller (I assume that's how you're using it).
Double check the cable is connected correctly on the headphone end (my headset has a plug there too).
And then I'd be double checking something hasn't gone awry with your chat/party sound output settings.
For good measure, you can also try powering down and resetting the cache on the console (unplug from wall, leave for 10 minutes, turn on again). Who knows what gremlins sneak in.

thanks for reply,i ended up gettin new headset and it works fine.
strange though the way the other one went like that without warning.was working fine before.
