PS4 Can't transfer data from PS4 to PS5 using USB.

Can anyone help ? I've just purchased a SanDisk 512gb usb stick with a view to copying PS4 data onto the stick and from there to my new PS5 slim. But pretty soon I ran into problems. I thought I had to format the disk as extended storage before transferring data but after I did just that the PS4 told me that it couldn't transfer the data as the disk was formatted as extended storage. So I re-formatted the disk as exFAT as instructed. I was then able to transfer the data to the USB stick. But when I tried to transfer the data to the PS5 and followed procedure I was met with a message which said 'Your saved data will appear here.' I sat there for half and hour and nothing changed. So, where is my saved data and why won't it appear on the PS5 so that I can then copy it to the new console ??

What did you do after you copied the saved data from PS4 to USB, what were your exact steps in copying the data, and what you did after?

Once we have this information, we can see the bigger picture and provide you better help :)
 
Well there are processes in place to get this done, so maybe you done it incorrectly? or a mistake was made in the process? when you set up the ps5, it asks if yu want to transfer data from a ps4, did you use that option ?
 
I tried that, it didn't work. PS5 told me that it couldn't transfer data from the PS4 because I wasn't signed in to the PS4 - even though I WAS signed in.
 
Have you tried to rebuild the database? its alot easier if you list all the methods you tried so we have a understanding of what you havent tried, instead of me listing every possible answer and you stating if you tried it or not, otherwise there is no reason for this issue to be harder to understand then it is.
 
I sign in to both the PS4 and PS5, I get as far as transfer saved data from PS4 to PS5 - the PS5 finds my PS4 and asks me if I want to transfer all my saved stuff over. I say OK. That's when the PS5 tells me that it can't transfer anything over because I'm not signed in to the PS4 - even although I AM signed in.
